DESCRIPTION:To showcase Black American films made between 1910 and 1950\, the CWU Center for Diversity and Social Justice will present a Classic Black Film Series. Each film in the series is made by\, about and for Black Americans who wanted to see themselves reflected in films. The series begins with an opening reception featuring Pamela Thomas\, a world-renowned national and international lecturer on the significance and impact of American race movies\, Monday\, April 28 at 5 p.m. outside room 103 in Dean Hall. Following the reception there will be a screening of the first film of the series\, ?Midnight Ramble? at 6 p.m. in Dean Hall room 103. This award-winning documentary shares the history and foundation of early Black American films. The series continues Tuesday\, April 29 at 6 p.m. with a showing of ?Body and Soul\,? Wednesday\, April 30 at 6 p.m. with ?Within our Gates? and Thursday\, May 1 at 6 p.m. with ?God?s Step Children.? All screenings will be in Dean Hall room 103 and are free and open to the public.
