DESCRIPTION:Join the CWU Center for Leadership and Community Engagement (CLCE) Wednesday\, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. in Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) room 137B as they pay tribute to Nelson Mandela\, late president of South Africa and social advocate for the country?s independence from apartheid\, by hosting a panel to discuss ?Sports\, Race and Social Justice: Reflecting on Nelson Mandela?s Legacy.? Panelists will reflect on lessons learned from Nelson Mandela and on non-violent action for social transformation with the discussion of panelists\, which include: Dr. Keith Champagne\, CWU Associate Dean of Student Development\; Dr. Jay Ball\, Assistant Director\, CWU Theatre Arts\; Anne Cubilie\, Director\, CWU Douglas Honors College\; Dr. Mark Auslander\, Associate Professor\, CWU Anthropology. Free and open to the public\, this event offers attendees an opportunity to honor Mandela while also providing an educational perspective on South Africa?s apartheid era and its effects on the country.
