In December of 2006\, Strong?s partner of nine years\, Kate Fleming\, died suddenly. Despite their long partnership\, Strong was denied access to be by her side in her final moments. Shortly after her partner?s death\, Strong testified before the House and the Senate in Olympia and as a result of her testimony the Domestic Partnership bill was passed in Washington State.
