Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
Brooks Library is hosting an Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon on Saturday, April 18 from noon – 5 p.m.
The impetus behind this global project is research which indicates extremely poor representation within Wikipedia of women artists, and women subjects in general, as well as a lack of women contributors and editors of articles.
Attending this free event will enable participants to:
- Establish a Wikipedia account and learn how to edit and write articles
- Contribute to or submit original articles about women in the arts (and beyond)
- Learn research skills for finding reliable sources of information to use in their articles
Anyone is welcome to participate: students, faculty, community members, women, men. Participants are welcome to research and contribute to articles on the subject of their choice. Additionally, we will have resources and subject suggestions for those who want to participate but do not have a subject in mind. We are focusing our research and articles on women in the arts and sciences from the Pacific Northwest.
Increase your digital skills and contribute to the “Internet’s largest and most popular general reference work." Please help us get the word out about this unique event to your friends, students, and patrons.
