This year’s Pride Week theme “One Proud World,” seeks to encourage all CWU students to look into themselves and find out what they are #ProudToBe. Queer Art Show: Flash Exhibition All day | SURC 137B | Free The festivities kickoff with a weeklong digital Flash Exhibition of all Queer Art Show submissions. The purpose of the art show is to create a positive space for Queer Expression.
Monday, May 30 Field Day 10 a.m. | SURC and Barto Lawns | $5 Registration Required: www.cwu.edu/equal/fieldday Kick off Pride Week while hanging out with friends, meeting new people and enjoying a pizza party. Everyone can test their skills at relay races, dodgeball and more! Mark your calendars for a day of fun in the sun.
Tuesday, May 31 Block Party 10 a.m. | SURC | Free Organizations, clubs and companies will show their pride with tabling, swag and food at this festival-style block party. Featuring music from The ‘Burg, attendees will have access to resources and engage with diversity supporters of on and off campus groups.
Drag Bingo 6 p.m. | SURC Pit | $1 per bingo card Come out for a fabulous night have a chance to win awesome prizes provided by the Wildcat Shop! The evening will be hosted by Drag Queens from the CWU community. Top prize will take home a $100 gift card to the Wildcat Shop.
Wednesday, June 1 Dyke Rally 12 p.m. | East SURC Patio | Free Everyone is invited to join in this rally, organized to be inclusive of all women, regardless of labels.
From Hitchcock High to the NFL: I am Michael Sam 8 p.m. | SURC Ballroom | Free | Open to all A highlight of Pride Week, Michael Sam is coming to Central to share the story of his very public journey of being true to who he is. Sam’s talk, free and open to the public, will take place in the SURC Ballroom at 8 p.m. and be followed by a Q&A session.
Thursday, June 2 EQuAl’s Big Queer Dance Party LIVE 10 a.m. | East SURC Patio | Free Join EQuAl’s Big Queer Dance Party for a day of fun, music and pride swag. The dance party will feature a raffle for front row tickets to the Professional Drag Show. Make sure to come out for the rainbow fun run. Get a blank t-shirt and run through a course with powered paints setup along the way.
Friday, June 3 Amateur Drag Show 11 a.m. | SURC West Patio | Free The show will be hosted by a professional drag queen? Contestants will get the chance to test out their skills with the winner bringing home the opportunity to participate in the professional show later in the evening.
Queer Art Show: Downtown Reception 5 p.m. | 420 Gallery | Free A limited number of works will be chosen by the jurors for exhibition at Gallery 420 in Downtown Ellensburg. The downtown reception will be held during First Friday Artwalk.
Professional Drag Show 8 p.m. | SURC Ballroom | Free The show will feature six professional drag kings and queens from out of state. They will compete against each other and the winner of Central’s amateur contest to see who is the most fabulous.
Saturday, June 4 Pride Parade 10 a.m. | Downtown Ellensburg This year marks the first official Ellensburg Pride Parade. Come out to express your pride and celebrate with the Ellensburg community. The parade will feature performances by Lavender Country, Aquasha DeLusty and Friends, Kiy Kiy Alexia, Troupe Rose and a puppy drag show.
Queer Prom 7 p.m. | SURC Ballroom | Free All students are invited to this neon glow masquerade-themed dance that will make everyone feel included and provide a place for them to be themselves. Come alone. Come with friends, but don’t forget your mask.
