CWU Black Film Series presents Selma
The CWU Center for Diversity and Social Justice (CDSJ) Black Film Series concludes Wednesday, June 3 at 6:30 p.m. in Black Hall room 151 with a screening of “Selma” with introductions by Drs. Bobby Cummings and Keith Champagne of CWU. This event is free and open to the public and includes free pizza and refreshments.
Directed by Ava DuVernay and starring David Oyelowo as Martin Luther King Jr., this 2015 Best Picture Academy Award nominated film chronicles Dr. King’s campaign to secure equal voting rights during the march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965. Featuring moving performances from a star-studded cast, including Oprah Winfrey, this movie tells the story of a Civil Rights movement that prompted change in America that is still felt today.
