CWU Queer Film Series continues with "Tales of the Waria" documentary
The CWU Center for Diversity and Social Justice (CDSJ) continues their Queer Film Series with a free screening of the documentary ?Tales of the Waria? Tuesday, April 8 at 5 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation (SURC) Pit. Find out what life is like for the transgender community in the world?s largest Muslim country, Indonesia. The documentary follows the story of four ?warias,? biological men who believe they were born with the souls of women, as they make extraordinary sacrifices for love. The film uncovers a world that not only defies our expectations of gender and Islam, but also reveals our endless capacity as human beings to search for love ? regardless of what the consequences may be.
