Queer Film Series: Game Face
Game Face, an award-winning documentary, tells the stories of Fallon Fox, the first transgender professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, and Terrence Clemens, a dynamic guard on the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M?s men?s basketball team who happens to be gay. The film follows both athletes on their journey of coming out and being true to themselves, as well as captures the anxiety caused by the unpredictability of how society will accept them. Game Face sheds light on the obstacles LGBT athletes face and shows their vulnerabilities and strength during their struggle towards self-realization. Dr. Michael Goerger, CWU assistant professor of philosophy, will introduce the film before the screening. The event is sponsored by Douglas Honors College, Women & Gender Studies and the Center for Diversity and Social Justice (CDSJ).
