Visiting Professor to Lecture on Islamic Culture
In an effort to contribute to the fight against prejudice towards Islam, the CWU Center for Diversity and Social Justice (CDSJ) will host Dr. Hisham Ramadan as the featured presenter at "Islamic Law and State: Between Myth and Reality," a lecture to be held Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) rooms 137 A and B. This event is free and open to the public. With a goal is of encouraging the public to rethink rooted concepts, such as the idea that Islam is anti-democracy, Ramadan hopes to inform and educate attendees about the true state of the daily life of Islamic culture, which constitutes approximately 23% of the world?s population. Through this presentation, Ramadan and the CDSJ are combining efforts to contribute to the abolishment of stereotypes and intolerance.
