About Us

At Apple Valley News Now, our purpose is to provide our television viewing area with an unequaled source of news, entertainment and information, and enhance the quality of life in our community. We accomplish this through cooperation and open communication in an environment where personal achievement, initiative and innovation are recognized and rewarded. History On September 21, 1970, KAPP TV, our Yakima operation, first began broadcasting to the region as an ABC Network affiliate. Approximately one month later KVEW signed on the air providing the Tri Cities area with full ABC programming. The stations were built by Apple Valley Broadcasting Inc., and Apple Valley Broadcasting is still the owner. Apple Valley Broadcasting is a subsidiary of Morgan Murphy Media, a Wisconsin based media company. Morgan Murphy Media, in turn, is owned by Elizabeth Murphy Burns and John Murphy. Click here for the history of Morgan Murphy Media. APPLE VALLEY NEWS NOW provides network programming as well as local service to the Yakima-Pasco-Richland-Kennewick area. The two stations together reach seven counties in Washington and Oregon. In addition to APPLE VALLEY NEWS NOW, the Murphy family owns KXLY- TV in Spokane, Washington. The combined resources of these three commonly owned stations help provide a unique television service to Eastern Washington
