SUMMARY:Community Garden Moves To Wippel Park
DESCRIPTION:The Downtown Community Garden will be relocated to Wippel Park in West Ellensburg. \nCity Council approved the move and the addition of a public pollinator garden to Wippel Park at the January 17 City Council meeting.\n\n \n\nThe changes at Wippel Park will create a unique park experience for our community providing much needed opportunities for people to grow their own food\, as well as serving our natural environment by growing specific nectar and pollen-producing plants\, in a way that attracts pollinating insects. The pollinator garden is a partnership with the Ellensburg Morning Rotary Club.\n\n \n\nIn October 2021 the City Council declared the downtown community garden property at First Avenue and Pine Street as surplus to be used for affordable housing. A private developer\, Stalder Interests\, is under contract to acquire the land and has plans to build 57 units of affordable housing.
