DESCRIPTION:CWU Choirs: Life's Fire Sunday\, March 9 at 4pm\, Hertz Concert Hall\, McIntyre Music building on the CWU campus (ticketed) The concert features performances by University Chorale\, Wildcat Chorus\, Vox Divina\, and The CWU Chamber Choir. Additionally\, Christopher Lerch and Maria Kramer\, Graduate Students in Choral Conducting will be conducting on the concerts. The CWU Chamber Choir\, conducted by Dr. Nicole Lamartine\, has been hailed as the "finest collegiate choir in the west" with "genius programming." The choir will sing the premiere of a movement of a commissioned work called "Fire in the Meadow" by Kansas composer\, Forrest Pierce. University Chorale builds musicianship\, vocal technique\, a commitment to excellence through varied programming. Prof. Vijay Singh will conduct works by Palestrina\, Lauridsen\, and his own compositions. Vox Divina\, the non-auditioned treble choir\, creates beauty in community by performing expressive music that inspires with their "intoxicating" sound. Conducted by Dr. Nicole Lamartine\, the choir will present a premiere of a triptych by Portland based Black composer Judy A. Rose\, "Ode to the Wind\, Moon\, Trees\, and Rising Stars." The CWU Wildcat Chorus is an energetic non-auditioned group which fosters a team attitude and support for all tenors and basses in the ensemble. This is Dr. Scott Peterson's thirteenth year conducting the ensemble\, and they will present pieces from the low voice choir tradition\, including the Scottish "Bonnie Hielan Laddie" and "I'll Fly Away."
