BDC Lunch & Learn - Connecting with Central Washington University
Are you wondering how your business or organization can connect with Central Washington University?
In this Lunch & Learn, presenter Bruce Simpson will share demographics of CWU students, explain why internships are so important (even if students don't realize it) and show you how to create meaningful recruiting relationships with students and faculty.
Bruce Simpson serves as the Employer Outreach Liaison in CWU Career Services, and helps students make the transition from college to career by connecting students and faculty with employers for internship and job opportunities. He also serves as an adjunct professor in the CWU College of Business, teaching professional development courses.
Bruce graduated from the University of New Mexico and was commissioned as an Air Force officer. After serving as a nuclear missile launch officer and completing his master’s degree at the University of Northern Colorado, his third active duty assignment brought him to Ellensburg to teach the Air Force ROTC program at Central Washington University. He really enjoyed working in higher education, and loved the Kittitas Valley, so he left active duty, joined the Air Force Reserve, and started working at CWU.
In addition to his military job and CWU job, he is also a member of a federal disaster recovery team, and has deployed to numerous locations to assist with recovery efforts. For recent COVID-19 support missions he deployed to San Diego (cruise ship quarantine operations), New York City (COVID mass fatality operations), Oregon (wildfires) and Olympia (WA State Department of Health Medical Surge Team operations).
