Central Cello Celebration Finale Concert - Marvel Heroes

On October 23–24, cellists from across the state will converge upon Ellensburg to participate in the twelfth biennial Central Cello Celebration, hosted by the CWU Music Department. This year, we celebrate our HEROES, including composers, cellists, and everyday people, sung and unsung. The world premiere of Tom Walworth’s “Marvel Heroes: A-X,” a musical medley of famous tunes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will conclude the Finale Concert on Saturday, October 24, at 6 p.m. in the CWU Music Concert Hall. Dr. Nikolas Caoile, Alex Pualani, and Michael King will conduct the cello choirs. Additional recital performances are scheduled for Friday, October 23, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, October 24, at 2 p.m. in the CWU Music Recital Hall. These recitals will feature cellist Minna Rose Chung, co-author of CelloMind: Intonation and Technique; Seattle Symphony’s Roberta Hansen Downey; and talented young cellists from across the state of Washington. Admission to all performances is free.
