A sidesplitting sendup of greed, love, revolution (and musicals!), in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. Urinetown is a musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, environmental collapse, privatization of natural resources, bureaucracy, municipal politics, and musical theatre itself! In a dystopian city, in the middle of a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, the government has banned private toilets. The citizens must pay to use public amenities, a system controlled by the corrupt "Urine Good Company" (UGC). From the exhausted citizens, a hero emerges. Bobby Strong has had enough and organizes a revolution, fighting back against the oppressive systems so the people can “pee free!”
