Renowned performance artist David Garibaldi is coming back to CWU to bring the stage to life at “Rhythm and Hue,” his live art show where he paints 6-foot portraits of pop and cultural icons in minutes all while moving to the rhythm of the music, Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Ballroom. Tickets are free for CWU students with I.D., $10 for general admission and available at www.cwu.edu/tickets.
“Rhythm and Hue” is more than just a painting demonstration; it is an inspirational experience. As a performance painter, Garibaldi uses his body movement and brushes to communicate with the audience via music. At his previous performance at Central, he created portraits of President Barack Obama, Alica Keys, Cesar Chavez and Albert Einstein before hundreds in minutes. During his unique show, Garibaldi incorporates music, pop culture and art into a synthesized live performance piece.
