Distinguished Washington Environmental Writer to Speak at CWU
Robert Michael Pyle is a renowned natural history writer. His presentation, “On the Road with Butterflies: Where life, literature, and road maps intersect,” is set for Friday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Dean 106. In it, Pyle will discuss his numerous field excursions over the past several decades, including his recent quest to document as many species of butterflies in a single year as possible.
A distinguished lepidopterist—butterfly and moth expert—and a long-time resident of Gray’s River, Washington, Pyle also wrote of the pursuit in his book Mariposa Road. He is the author of 14 books, many of which are regional and national award winners. Several of his books directly pertain to Washington’s landscapes and environments, including Where Bigfoot Walks, Wintergreen, and the Butterflies of Cascadia.
For more information about Pyle’s free, public CWU presentation, or the AWG meeting, call 509-963-1752.
