First Amendment Festival provides activities at CWU
The campus community is invited to take part in The First Amendment Festival activities May 6 through 9 in the SURC. Events include "The Marketplace of Ideas," a free speech wall and famous re-enactments of First Amendment trials. All of the events are free and open to the public. ?The Marketplace of Ideas? will host numerous tables where participants can receive information on issues they're passionate about such as health care, gun advocacy and legalization of marijuana. The Marketplace can also be used as a networking event for attendees to find organizations they want to join. A free speech wall will be on display all week on the SURC east and west patios. Everyone is encouraged to write their thoughts, opinions and feelings on various issues from current or even historical events. Finally, famous First Amendment Trials will be re-enacted from 11 a.m. to noon on Monday and noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the SURC Pit. The re-enactments will include the espionage trial of Daniel Ellsburg, the ?Chicago Seven? protestors at the Democratic National Convention and the Lenny Bruce obscenity trail.
