The Lion Rock Visiting Writers Series at CWU returns this winter with Dr. Terry Martin, a CWU Professor in the English Department and accomplished poet, essayist and editor. The series brings writers of many disciplines to CWU, and often features CWU faculty, particularly when a faculty member has recently published a new work. Martin will read from her latest and third book of poetry, "The Light You Find" at her reading Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the CWU Wildcat Shop. The reading is free to attend and open to the public, and Martin's books will be available for purchase. The reading will last approximately 45 minutes, and attendees will have an opportunity to meet Martin after the reading and ask her questions about her work. Martin's latest and third book of poetry, "The Light You Find" was published last September, and explores life transitions, accomplishments and losses, as well as exploring places, particularly the surrounding canyon area that is sure to resonate with many attendees. Her poems, essays and articles have appeared in hundreds of publications, and she has edited many books, journals and anthologies. Her first book of poems, "Wishboats," won the Judges Choice Award at Seattle?s Bumbershoot Book Fair in 2000. Alongside her many literary achievements, Martin is a distinguished member of the CWU faculty, having received CWU's Distinguished Professor Teaching Award as well as the CASE/Carnegie U.S. Professor of the Year Award.
