OPR Speaker Series: Fred Beckey

The Outdoor Pursuits and Rentals (OPR) Speaker Series continues March 30 with a visit from mountaineering legend Fred Beckey, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Theatre. Tickets are $10 and available at the door. At 90 years old, Beckey is well known as one of the most successful and eccentric mountain climbers alive, and he still climbs mountains to this day. After growing up in Seattle and learning to climb in the Cascades, Beckey went on to make more first ascents than any other North American climber. After his presentation, Beckey will be on hand to sign copies of one of his many published guide books.
