The Kairos String Quartet, established in 1993, has been the quartet-in-residence at Central Washington University since 1998. Violinists Carrie Rehkopf and Denise Dillenbeck, violist Timothy Better and cellist John Michel have extensive chamber music experience and have toured internationally. In addition to traditional concert performances, the group is committed to educational outreach and to performing in unlikely venues in which they seek to break down the barriers between audience and performers. The Kairos Quartet will discuss how Beethoven's deafness affected his composing through an exploration of his dearest quartet, OPUS 130, and will perform Beethoven Op. 18, No.5 String Quartet in A Major.
