In an effort to increase awareness and acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community on the CWU campus, the Center for Diversity and Social Justice (CDSJ) will present their Queer Film Series. The series includes three films that tell stories of the struggles and triumphs members of the LGBTQIA+ community have faced. The second of film in the series, “Fire,” will play on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. in the CWU Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) room 137. Attendance is free and open to the public.
“Fire” tells the story of two women who fall in love, despite unlikely circumstances. Radha and Sita are the wives of two brothers, and the families live together in a small apartment in New Delhi. As the women find frustration and mistreatment in their marriages, they turn to each other for comfort and friendship, which eventually blossoms into much more. Though their journey to be together is full of challenges, their story is sure to inspire others to embrace their identities, despite the opposition they may face.
