Speaker Michael Messner: ?Women in Sports, Time for a Victory Lap??

Despite the growing interest and participation in women?s sports, the coverage they receive on many major sports shows remains relatively low. To further explore how women are represented in sports media, award-winning sociology professor Michael Messner, Ph.D., will be speaking at Central. In addition to teaching at the University of Southern California, Messner has authored several books and is renowned for his research on gender roles, particularly in sports. As one of the leading scholars in this field, Messner will share valuable insight into the disproportionate coverage of women?s sports in the media.
