World AIDS Day is held on Dec. 1 of every year as the world comes together to show their support for people living with HIV/AIDS. This fall, CWU is joining this national education day with a public event on Tuesday, Dec. 1 with a handful events beginning at 8 a.m. and spanning to 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC). This free event will feature information about HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, with peer health educators present to answer any questions and spread awareness. Free take home HIV testing kits will also be available for CWU students.
Events include: STOP the Stigma hand prints from 8 to 11 a.m. in the SURC Pit; an information board with peer health educators available to answer questions from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in SURC 137 A&B; an informational workshop about PrEP, a prevention option for those at high-risk at noon in SURC 140; a Candlelight Vigil at 6 p.m. at the SURC East Patio; and a storytelling session at 6:30 p.m. in the SURC Pit.
