Brigham Young University faculty pianists Scott Holden and Robin Hancock will present a recital of solo and two-piano works on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Central Washington University Music Building's Concert Hall. Hancock is a CWU alumnus, having graduated in 1982 with a BM in piano performance. He went on to earn his master?s degree in piano pedagogy from Brigham Young University in 1986 and a DMA in piano performance at Boston University in 1992. He has become known for writing and performing transcriptions of well-known works, including Copland?s ?Billy the Kid Suite,? Vivaldi?s ?Winter,? from ?The Four Seasons? and Gershwin?s ?I?ve got Rhythm.? Scott Holden earned a DMA from the Manhattan School of Music in 2002 and was a first-prize winner in the 1996 Leschetizky New York Debut Competition, and made his Carnegie Recital Hall concert debut to high critical praise. The program will feature Igor Stravinsky's two-piano arrangement of ?The Rite of Spring,? as well as works by Bach, Kernis and Rachmaninoff.
