Pride Month was established to celebrate the impact of the LGBTQ+ individuals, advocates and allies. Central Washington University (CWU) was voted one of the top 50 LGBT-friendly universities in the nation and commemorates Pride Month by hosting Pride Week. This year’s theme is Pride Without Borders starting on May 27 through June 2. The Pride Without Borders events include (** means it is open to the public): May 27 - Decorate the Wildcat on the SURC East Patio at 11 a.m. with the CWU Fashion Department and EQuAL. Also, honor the fallen at the Veteran's Memorial Day display on the SURC East Patio. **May 28 - Attend Queer & A: Spill the Tea at 6 p.m. in the Wellington Events Center to ask questions and learn more about the LGBTQ+ community. **May 29 - Watch CWU students and community members perform at Pride & Poetry at 7 p.m. in the SURC Ballroom. Email equal@cwu.edu to sign up. May 30 - Celebrate the LQBTQ+ graduates at Lavender Graduation at 6 p.m. in the SURC Ballroom. This event is invite only. **May 31 - Watch students strut their stuff at the amateur drag show at 11 a.m. on the SURC West Patio. Later, professional Kings and Queens will own the stage in the SURC Ballroom at 8 p.m. **June 1 - Dance the night away at Prom Without Borders from 7-10 p.m. in the SURC Ballroom. June 2 - Distress and socialize before finals at the Queer Bistro from 1-4 p.m. in the 1891 Bistro. This event is sponsored by the Diversity and Equity Center and CWU EQuAL.
