Central Washington University Symphonic Band to Perform
Another exciting night of captivating and breathtaking music is coming your way. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 4, at 7 p.m. to attend the free CWU Symphonic Band concert. The band will perform works by David R. Gillingham, Clifton Williams, Frank Ticheli, John Barnes Chance, Dmitri Shostakovich, and J.S. Bach. John Barnes Chance?s, Elegy, found on his desk after he died, is believed to be his final composition. The featured piece for the evening will be David Gillingham?s Apocalyptic Dreams. This work depicts in musical terms the events of the Apocalypse as narrated in the book of Revelation. Three movements that envision the end of the world, the chain of cosmic disasters that help cause the apocalypse, culminate in the pure sounds of the oboe, flute, English horn, and clarinet proclaiming the pureness of the Messianic Kingdom. Persons of disability may make arrangements for reasonable accommodation by calling (509) 963-1105 or (for hearing impaired) TDD (509) 963-2143.
