Civil Rights Exhibit Interactive Walkthrough
As part of Black History Month, the CWU Center for Diversity and Social Justice (CDSJ) is bringing a Civil Rights Exhibit to the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) room 137 A/B. Starting Monday, Feb. 2 and ending Friday, Feb. 6 the room will be transformed into an interactive “museum-like” experience for students and community members to enjoy, completely free of charge. It will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day.
In an attempt to emulate the feelings and emotions of the Civil Rights Movement, the exhibit will be structured as an interactive walkthrough experience. Various sections will be set up with distinct themes including “separate but equal” schools, lynching, incarceration and the Black Panthers to name a few. Each mini-exhibit will come to life as re-creations of the respective landmark historical occurrences and will feature quotes from Civil Rights leaders and photos to add to the overall atmosphere.
