To help the CWU and local communities become active citizens and educated voters, College Civics Week is back for another year at CWU with events Monday, May 4 through Thursday, May 7. This year, Washington State Representative Hans Zeiger will be giving a keynote speech on Wednesday, May 6 at noon in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Pit, with a question and answer period beginning at 12:45 p.m. In addition to all other College Civics Week events, this speech is free to attend and open to the public.
Hans Zeiger was elected into office as a Member of the Washington House of Representatives from the 25th district in 2010. A Puyallup, Wash. native and accomplished author, Zeiger has an impressive resumé of books published including “Get Off My Honor: The Assault on the Boy Scouts of America” and “Reagan’s Children: taking Back the City on the Hill.” In 2013, he was commissioned as an officer in the Washington State Air National Guard.
Following the speech and formal question and answer period, a photo booth, free swag, snacks and mingling with the representative will be held in SURC 137 A and B from 1 to 2 p.m.
