CWU Celebrates Filipino Heritage with Barrio Fiesta
In an effort to honor the traditions of the Filipino culture and to offer everyone the opportunity to experience Filipino arts and celebrations, the CWU Center for Diversity and Social Justice (CDSJ) and the CWU Filipino American Student Association (FASA) will host Barrio Fiesta Wednesday, June 3 from 2 to 6 p.m. on the lawn of the Barto residence hall. This event is free and open to the public. Dance performances by both FASA and Batang Wapato, of Wapato, Wash., will demonstrate traditional Filipino dances, and ethnic Filipino food and refreshments from FASA and local Ellensburg vendor Lutong Pinoy will be served. Family friendly activities will include bracelet making workshops, face painting, tutorials and introductions to traditional Filipino dances Tinikling and Tumbang Preso, and much more! Don?t miss out on this fiesta packed full of fun in the sun and join the CWU Filipino community as they honor their culture and history.
