Neville Hoad is an accomplished author and professor at University of Texas at Austin where he teaches English. He has published numerous articles on African and Victorian literature, queer theory and the history of sexuality, and is currently writing a book on cultural representations of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Sub Sahara Africa. As part of the CDSJ’s Pride Week, Hoad will be delivering a lecture on the history and cultural impact of Botswana’s Miss HIV Beauty Pageant, where all of the contestants are open about being HIV positive, on Tuesday, May 26 at 4 p.m. in Black Hall room 151. The lecture is free to attend and open to the public.
