CWU Lion Rock: Rumpus Panel
The Lion Rock Visiting Writers series will feature its first multi-author panel of the year with Elissa Washuta, Kate Lebo, and Tiffany Midge on May 23. All three authors will lead a panel, at noon in Black Hall room 151, centered on the editor-author relationship they've been involved in at The Rumpus magazine. Later that evening, they will read from their work at 7:30 p.m. in the Dean Hall lobby near the Museum of Culture and Environment. Both events are free and open to the public. Books will be available for sale courtesy of the CWU Wildcat Shop following the 7:30 p.m. event. Elissa Washuta, a memoirist, essayist, and member of the Cowlitz Indian tribe, is the author of Starvation Mode and My Body is a Book of Rules, a finalist for the Washington State Book Award. She has received fellowships and awards from Artist Trust, 4Culture, Potlatch Fund, and Hugo House, and her work has been featured in publications such as Salon, The Chronicle of Higher Education, and BuzzFeed. Kate Lebo is an essayist and poet and the author of Pie School and A Commonplace Book of Pie. Her work has appeared in Best American Essays 2015, Best New Poets, Gastronimca, Willow Springs, AGNI, The Rumpus, Hobart, and the Washington Post, among other publications. Poet and member of the Hunkpapa Lakota tribe, Tiffany Midge, is the author of The Woman Who Married a Bear, Outlaws, Renegades and Saints, and other books. She has received the Diane Decorah Award for Poetry, and has had her work featured in Cimarron Review, Poetry Northwest, and Seattle Arts. She is the assistant poetry editor for The Rumpus. All three authors call the Pacific Northwest home.
