CWU Suffragette Celebration Continues with Clarinet Recital

Professor Florie Rothenberg will perform a free recital of clarinet music by women composers at 2:00 p.m. Jan. 24 in the Music Building Recital Hall.
Rothenberg, in her second year of teaching clarinet for Central Washington University?s music department, is active as a clarinetist in the Puget Sound region. Rothenberg graduated from the University of Arizona with a Doctorate of Musical Arts in clarinet performance. She has performed as a member of numerous orchestras, including the Tacoma Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Arizona Opera and the 5th Avenue Theater. She has also been involved in several recording projects, including performing on the first recording of Philip Glass?s ?2nd Piano Concerto.? She recently released her own album, ?Voices of Trees,? which featured music by women composers.
In Tuesday?s performance, Rothenberg, along with pianist Rachel Matthews, will perform music by Clara Schumann, Joan Tower, Katherine Hoover and original pieces by Matthews.
