CWU Theatre Production: The Duchess of Malfi
For their fall production, the Central Theatre Ensemble will be performing “The Duchess of Malfi” by John Webster. Directed by Brenda Hubbard, the play is set in 17th century Jacobean period Italy. A duchess who functions as sole ruler of Malfi falls in love and remarries as she battles the forces of evil when her two violent brothers seek to overthrow her. Filled with psychological intrigue and Webster’s magnificent poetry, this story demonstrates both the sunniest and darkest aspects of the human spirit in a vivid and compelling drama.
The production will run on Nov. 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. as well as Nov. 16 and 23 at 2 p.m. at the Milo Smith Tower Theatre on the CWU campus. Patron discretion is advised, as some material may be unsuitable for children under 17. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 students/seniors and $7 for CWU students w/ID. Tickets are available at the CWU Welcome Center and Wildcat shop.
