The Central Washington University Department of Music will proudly present its first annual Bassoon Studio Recital on Tuesday, Feb. 10. This is the first time in the history of the department that the bassoon studio has been large enough to present such an event. The program will include works for solo bassoon by Vivaldi, Mozart and others, though the highlight of the recital will be a group of works played by a bassoon ensemble. The ensemble, consisting of nine bassoons and one contrabassoon, will play a variety of transcriptions, including arrangements of a waltz by Franz Lehar, a march by Julius Fucik and a rousing edition of Leroy Anderson?s ?Bugler?s Holiday? for three solo bassoons with bassoon accompaniment. The ensemble is directed by bassoon instructor Daniel Lipori. The free, open-to-the-public concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Music Building?s Recital Hall. Persons of disability may make arrangements for reasonable accommodation by calling (509) 963-1242 or (for hearing impaired) TDD (509) 963-2143.
