Day of the Dead
Procession: 5 p.m. | Dean Hall Lobby Opening Ceremony: 5:45 p.m. | SURC East Patio Festivities: 6 p.m. | SURC Ballroom Free | Open to the public Food under $5 available (cash only) Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a traditional Mexican two-day celebration following Halloween that is recognized and admired by many Hispanic and non-Hispanic cultures alike. It is a day to honor the lives of those who have passed, and the CWU Center for Diversity and Social Justice (CDSJ) invites everyone to join in their celebrations Friday, Nov. 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the CWU Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Ballroom. Participation in all activities is free and open to the public. A procession will begin at 5 p.m. in the Dean Hall Lobby. The Aztec Performers will kick-off Opening Ceremonies at 5:45 p.m. on the SURC East Patio. At 6 p.m. the Day of the Dead festivities will start in the SURC Ballroom. Attendees will experience live music, crafts, Aztec and Folkloric dance performers, la catrina and el catrin competitions and a photo booth. Mexican food vendors will be present with all options available for under $5, cash only.
