Early Jazz Nite featuring Curtis Peacock, Bret Smith and Friends May 19, 2008 Contact: Curtis Peacock, (509) 963-1245, fax: (509) 963-1239, email: peacockc@cwu.edu ELLENSBURG, Wash.-On Wednesday, May 28th, students and faculty from Central Washington University and Yakima Valley C.C. will present this school year's third and final Early Jazz Nite concert. The theme of this concert is "The Blues". The Blues was an important precursor to jazz as well as becoming a staple of every jazz musician's repertoire. The concert will feature instrumental and vocal performances of blues standards, including compositions by W.C. Handy and songs made famous by the great Bessie Smith, the ?Empress of the Blues?. The concert is free and open to the public. It will take place at 5PM in Central's Music Building Recital Hall.
