First Day Hikes - Ginkgo Petrified Forest
Gingko Petrified Forest State Park Gingko Petrified Forest Trail The trailhead is located two miles west of the interpretive center. This trail goes through an ancient fossil bed with nearly two-dozen petrified logs exposed. Along the trail you also will find ice-rafted erratics remaining from Ice Age floodwaters thousands of years ago. Very amazing! Time of Event: 1 p.m. Friendly dogs allowed on leash. Length of Trail: 3 miles (~200’ elevation gain) Dress for the weather (it can be windy); wear appropriate footwear for snow.

Location
Interstate 90 to exit 136 for Huntzinger Road; Take this exit, then turn left and drive 2.5 miles past Vantage to the Ginkgo Petrified Forest Interpretive Trails parking lot. This trail is not at the Interpretive Center.
