Flutists Jennifer Rhyne and Paul Taub to Perform at CWU

Professional flutists Jennifer Rhyne and Paul Taub will perform a varied program of contemporary works using amplified flutes, alto flutes, piccolos, distortion and delay pedals, prerecorded sound, and spatial movement on Nov. 15 at 4 p.m in the CWU Recital Hall. This free concert will include a premier by Tacoma, Washington composer James L. Brown Paul Taub is a flutist and executive director of the Seattle Chamber Players and Professor of Music at Cornish College of the Arts where he has been on the faculty since 1979. He was trained at Rutgers University and the California Institute of the Arts; his teachers include Marcel Moyse, Samuel Baron, Michel Debost and Robert Aitken. He has had a strong musical presence in the Seattle chamber music scene since 1979 and is an active soloist and recitalist. He has performed throughout the Pacific Northwest and in Canada, France, Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Italy and Costa Rica. Jennifer Rhyne serves as affiliate artist and is a senior lecturer in flute at Pacific Lutheran University where she directs the Sølvvinden Flute Choir and performs with the Camas Woodwind Quintet. She also serves as vice president and program chair of the Seattle Flute Society. She has been a prize winner in competitions sponsored by the Texas Flute Society, the Albuquerque Flute Association, the Washington, D.C. Flute Society, and the National Flute Association, and has performed at Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden in New York.
