The Golden West Winds, USAF Woodwind Quintet to Perform April 28, 2008 Contact: Daniel Lipori, 509-963-1242, fax: 509-963-1239, e-mail: liporig@cwu.edu Ellensburg, Wash.- The Golden West Winds is the resident woodwind quintet of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West at Travis AFB. This group of highly trained musicians has delighted numerous concert audiences throughout the western United States. As comfortable performing chamber music in a formal evening concert as they are performing popular songs for dinner music, the members of the ensemble also present informative lecture/performance clinics and provide patriotic music with full military honors for official military ceremonies. On Friday, May 16, they will be at CWU, where they will give a recital at 6:30pm in the music building Recital Hall. They will also present a Master Class for music students at 1pm. Both events are free and open to the public. The repertoire chosen by the group is selected for the intended audience and venues and can range from traditional woodwind quintet repertoire to transcriptions of orchestral music to popular songs and crowd-pleasing favorites. Recent tours have taken the quintet to Portland State University, the Sonora Bach Festival, the University of California at Davis and California State University at Sacramento. They have also appeared as guest performers on the live radio broadcast series ?Sundays at Four? from the Los Angeles County Art Museum.
