Healthy Hearing… What?
Do you or a loved one experience the frustration of missing out on conversations and of feeling isolated in social situations? Healthy hearing is not only important to social engagement, but it also improves communication and lowers the risk of depression.
Healthy hearing is also thought to benefit brain function, such as memory. Good hearing creates independence and security. For example, when you hear your phone ring, a fire alarm, a doorbell ring, or an emergency vehicle on the road behind you, you are more aware of your surroundings and can stay safer.
The community is invited to learn more from the only audiologist in all of Kittitas County who owns and operates a hearing healthcare clinic. Jenci Randall, Doctor of Audiology, and Clinic Manager Klarissa are excited to share with us the vital aspects of Hearing Healthcare that can improve our quality of life and offer helpful hearing aid tips and tricks. They will also answer any questions regarding tinnitus management, hearing aids, insurance, and resources available to our Veterans.
Hearing Healthcare refers to the interventions to prevent, identify, and treat hearing loss and related ear diseases. It includes rehabilitation and support for people with hearing loss. About 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with a detectable hearing loss in one or both ears. Then gradually as we age hearing loss occurs and affects about 30% of people ages 65–74, and almost 50% of people ages 75 and older in the United States.
Most people with hearing loss don't have access to interventions. Come and learn about the impacts on the lives of those affected and their families, and how to support them. The presentation and Q&A is FREE, open to all ages (youth with adult), and will be held at the UKC Senior Center, on Tues., February 20th, 4:00pm. For information call 509-674-7530, or email centerdir23@gmail.com.
