Jazz Music, Spoken Word and Imagery: The Langston Hughes Project at CWU
The Langston Hughes Project has brought back to life the work of the legendary American poet, and will be coming to CWU on Wednesday, March 4 at 8 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Theatre. The multimedia performance will feature Hughes? poem, ?Ask Your Mama: 12 Moods for Jazz? through jazz music performed by the Ron McCurdy Quartet, spoken-word poetry, and images from the Harlem Renaissance. The Langston Hughes Project is a follow up event to last week?s Poetry Slam, where three winners were chosen to perform their winning pieces with added musical cues by the Ron McCurdy Quartet as the preshow event. By representing the work of Hughes? in various ways, the Langston Hughes Project and CDSJ promise an eventful performance.
