If you are planning on being a burnout contestant please read the rules available on the website or call with any questions. The burnouts will take place directly in front of the hardware store on Main St. The vehicles will do a slow rolling burnout (no standing still) along one city block, showing off by laying as much rubber and creating as much smoke as possible. Power braking is encouraged and showmanship is king! Winners will receive bragging rights and an award. There are three divisions: Pro Class, Amateur Class and Truck Class. Entrants choose their own division and will draw a number to determine the order of the lineup. Last year?s winners will go last in each division
Manifold Cooking Contest:
Ladies and gentlemen- Start your Engines! But only after you've loaded them up with food for Kittitas County's first ever MANIFOLD COOKING CONTEST!
Engine Cooking is the art of cooking food from the excess heat of an internal combustion engine, typically the engine of a car or truck.
Legend says this phenomenon started with truckers, who wanting to enjoy a warm meal, used the heat from their vehicle's engine to make lunch. Engine cooking is undeniably a great way to prepare a meal during a road trip or during a power outage. But we consider the method of cooking with the heat of an engine as a preferred method of preparing a meal ANYTIME.
The principle is simple: Identify a hot spot on our engine, such as the exhaust manifold, wrap the food in several layers of tin foil to act as a conductor as well as protect the food from contaminants, use wire to tie it down and drive around until your meal is cooked!
