Lunch and Lecture
The Kittitas County Historical Museum welcomes the Washoe Tribute Group as the next speakers in our Lunch and Lecture series. Enjoy your sack lunch during the presentation of: ?A Tribute to Washoe? Friday, March 20th, 2009 at 12:00 ? 12:45 pm. Members of the Washoe Tribute Group will be discussing and answering questions regarding their efforts to create a memorial to Washoe, a very special chimpanzee internationally known as the first non-human to acquire a human language (American Sign Language). With her family, Washoe, who lived in Ellensburg from 1980 until her death in 2007, greatly contributed to a broader understanding of human and non-human intelligence. The Kittitas County Historical Museum and Washoe Tribute Group invite you to attend this month?s Lunch & Lecture to learn more about Washoe, her family, and how the Tribute Group hopes to memorialize Washoe?s story for generations to come. For more information, please feel free to visit the Kittitas County Historical Museum at 114 East Third Avenue in the historic Cadwell Building. Hours are: Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and open until 7:00 pm on the first Friday of every month. You can also contact us at (509) 925-3778 or at kchm@kchm.org.
