Lunch and Lecture
The Kittitas County Historical Museum welcomes Rebecca Wassell of the Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group as the next guest speaker in our Lunch and Lecture series. Enjoy your sack lunch during the presentation of: ?Stream Habitat Restoration in the Yakima Basin? Friday, April 17th, 2009 at 12:00 ? 12:45 pm. Rebecca Wassell has served as Yakima Basin Program Manager for the Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group since January of 2008. She is responsible for project development and implementation in the Yakima Basin, which encompasses most of Kittitas, Yakima and Benton counties. Rebecca brings six years of experience as a fisheries biologist with the USDA Forest Service to this position, in addition to an academic background in limnology and wildlife ecology. Her talk will focus on how agencies, non-profits, and governments are working collaboratively to restore salmon populations in the Upper Yakima basin. One project, the Reecer Creek Floodplain Restoration project, will be highlighted as an example of strong partnerships. Carol Ready, of the South Central Washington Resource Conservation and Development Council, will join Rebecca in presenting the Reecer Floodplain project.
