Lunch and Lecture: Wenas Creek Mammoth Project
Third Friday Lunch and Lecture series, Brown-Bag it?at the Historical Museum In continuation of a series of free lectures, the Kittitas County Historical Museum will feature a speaker on Friday, May 16, 2008. Join us during your lunch hour from 12 pm to 12:45 pm ? and don?t forget to bring your lunch! Our special guest speaker this month is Patrick Lubinski, an Associate Professor of Anthropology and Co-director of the Resource Management Master?s Program at Central Washington University. His presentation will feature information on the ?Wenas Creek Mammoth Project: Three Seasons of Excavations near Selah.? Having been featured in the History Channel documentary "Journey to 10,000 BC," Pat?s investigation of the 15,500-17,000 year old mammoth remains outside Selah, WA include discoveries of additional animal species and even human artifacts. Three of his 25 seasons of archaeological field experience have been dedicated to the applicable integration of paleontology, archaeology, geomorphology and geography in the investigation of this Ice Age mammoth and its associated on-site materials.
