Pianist Regina Yeh to perform at CWU May 12, 2008 Contact: John Pickett, (509) 963-1246, fax: (509) 963-1239, email: pickettj@cwu.edu ELLENSBURG, Wash.-On Monday, May 19 at 7 pm in the CWU Concert Hall, CWU faculty member John Pickett is pleased to present Regina Yeh as the final guest artist on this year?s series of Distinguished Piano Performances. Recently named head of Piano Studies at Pacific Lutheran University, Ms. Yeh has gained a reputation as one of the brightest young pianists performing today. Winner of competitions such as the Chopin Competition, the Olga Koussevitsky Competition and the Allegro Music foundation/BAJ Classics competition and the Miezynsluw Munz Piano Competition, she has delighted audiences all over the world with her technical brilliance and sensitive musicianship, performing in France, the UK, the Slovak Republic, Taiwan and in major venues throughout the U.S. This year she will be making her debut in Carnegie Hall as a winner of the Special Presentation Series of Artist International Auditions and will follow that with an appearance with the Korea Mozart Orchestra in Seoul. A fervent proponent of new music, she has been a major force in making known the works of composers representing Eastern cultures, building audiences and bridging communities through the programming of music of both cultures in the same recital. Her performance in the CWU Concert Hall will include music of Taiwanese composer, Ma Shui-Long and the Chinese American composer Zhou Long, in addition to etudes by Chopin and Liszt and Robert Schumann?s Sonata No. 2. This promises to be one of the highlights of this season?s guest series, not to be missed! Admission is free. For more information contact John Pickett at Pickettj@cwu.edu
