PolyFest 2015 Celebrates Polynesian Culture at CWU
In an effort to reach out to the community and share their cultural heritage, Poly Central will host PolyFest 2015 Thursday, May 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Ballroom. PolyFest is a cultural dance tour of the Polynesian Islands and will feature a choreographed dance exhibition by CWU students highlighting the heritage of the Polynesian cultures. Dances from Hawaii, Fiji, Samoa, New Zealand, Tonga and Tahiti will be featured in this high-energy celebration of Island culture and history. This event is free and open to the public. Joining Poly Central for the festivities will be NIU Roots, a Seattle-based Polynesian dance group. The collaboration offers the local Islander communities a chance to come together and share their cultural roots with the CWU and Ellensburg communities in a grand presentation. Don?t miss out on an evening of drums, dance and cultural expression as PolyFest 2015 brings the island life to CWU.
