Raining Jane is set to splash onto the Central Washington University campus for two shows on May 11. A noon show will be an acoustic set in the new Student Union Pit, and the 7 p.m. show will be in the new Student Union's Theatre. Both shows will be free. Their music is described as ''rooted in rock and folk'' and shaped by funk and world music. The band has an eclectic mix of styles with 3-part harmonies being the trademark sound. The all-female group mixes traditional instruments and some that may be unfamiliar to Central students such as the sitar, a traditional Indian guitar-like instrument, and a box-drum which produces various sounds depending on where it is struck.
