Reception for Jampa Dorje and High Mountain Valley Local Authors Collection

Brooks Library, 2nd floor Reception to honor Jampa Dorje and the High Mountain Valley Local Artists Collection donation to the Central Washington University Archives and Special Collections This reception celebrates the collection of works by local authors that Jampa Dorje solicited and collected and gave to the Central Washington University Archives and Special Collections. The event will begin in the Brooks Commons with a talk by Mr. Dorje on the collection followed by a reception. Attendees are welcome to visit the CWU Archives and Special Collections to view the collection and other treasures housed there. Jampa Dorje, also known as Richard Denner, is Ellensburg’s resident Tibetan Buddhist monk. He is an artist, painter, writer, and poet. He worked as a ranch hand when he first came to Ellensburg in the mid-1970s. He then started the Four Winds Bookstore that stood in Ellensburg for 20 years. Jampa returned to Ellensburg in 2014 after being away for some time to care for his parents and pursue Buddhism. In addition to his ongoing artistic and literary projects, he also hosts a poetry program on Ellensburg Community Radio.
